Ratan Tata, who recently passed away, wrote a letter to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in 1996.

In the letter, he thanked Rao for making important changes to India’s economy. Tata said, "Every Indian should thank you for your brave work to open up India."

Rao is known as the 'Father of Indian Economic Reforms' because he helped the country during a tough time in 1991.

He made big changes that helped the economy grow.

Working with finance minister Manmohan Singh, he started the LPG reforms—Liberalisation, Privatisation, and Globalisation—which made things better for India.

In his letter, Tata said that some people were being mean to Rao. He wrote, "Even if others forget, I will always remember the good work you did to help our economy."

Tata thanked Rao for helping India connect with the world and for making it known everywhere.
